Why Our Church
City Gate Church Is a place where you will find a casual environment, friendly people and sound Biblical teaching. We invite you to bring your Bible, note book, tablet and or smart phone to follow along.
“Understanding that salvation comes only through accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, I promise to follow the teachings of Christ as presented in the Bible. I promise to read and study His word, show true love to others, and to pray daily; giving of my time and talent freely, and to share the message of Christ to others through my words and actions. All this I promise to strive to do, as Christ gives me strength.”
Dr. Howie Cantrell
Lead Pastor & Founder | email@example.com
Dr. Cantrell, or Howie as he prefers to be called, is no stranger to public speaking. He has spent many hours honing his skills speaking to both small intimate groups as well as large venues. He is the founder and Senior Pastor of City Gate Church in Gallatin, TN. He is a singer-songwriter as well as a musician.
Dr. Howie has a tremendous love for people and an innate ability to connect and relate with them on almost any level. Second only to his love for God is his love for his wife, Becky. They are about to celebrate their 36th Wedding Anniversary.
Together they have raised two amazing young men. Their first son, Trey, is a Police Officer in Gallatin, TN and is married to his beautiful wife Erin. Their second son, Travis, is a combat Marine having served 6 tours in 4 years. Travis recently married the love of his life Melissa.
Howie and Becky have 2 grandsons Luke and Zane that they deeply love with one on the way in December.
You will be moved as Dr. Howie opens the word of God using many of his real-life experiences and his own brand of unique illustrations.
Dr. Rebecca "Becky" Cantrell
I’m Becky Cantrell, wife of Pastor Howie Cantrell and co-founder of City Gate Church in Gallatin, Tennessee. Together, we have two wonderful sons, Roy (Trey) Cantrell, III and Travis Cantrell, two beautiful Daughter-in-Laws, Erin Cantrell and Melissa Cantrell and two wonderful grandsons, Luke Lawson and Zane Cantrell. We are very excited to have another grandson due in December!
My love for musical signing started around 2004 when I attended a church and saw music being signed for the first time. I immediately started taking sign language classes at two different churches, as well as taking classes at Gate Communications in Franklin, TN, Volunteer State Community College, and the Bill
Rice Ranch. The Bill Rice Ranch is where I was given my “Sign Name” (your sign name has to be given by a member of the Deaf community). I joined the Hands of Praise Team where I signed for the Praise and Worship and special music.
In addition to my Sign Language education, I’ve also obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Christian Education. To this day, you will still find me up on the stage praising God with my signs and in bible class each week, growing in God’s word.
